Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)In accordance with OSHA requirement and also VA's internal requirement, a comprehensive Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) safety program has been developed by PBS Engineers in order to ensure employees’ safety during maintenance or service work on various equipment’s during shut down. The LOTO safety program is a collection of written instructions, photos, drawings, equipment list, etc. to inform employees exactly what safe work procedures to execute, and where to place locks and warning tags. These locks and tags are placed at every strategic and critical location as required, such that Dangerous machines and/or equipment are properly shut off and not started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or servicing work. In addition the prevention of hazardous energy sources including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, etc. are completely isolated and rendered inoperative during LOTO, preventing any unexpected energization, start-up or release of stored energy.
